Eddie Vedder performs busking tribute to Glen Hansard in Dublin
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder performed a spontaneous busking set on Dublin’s Grafton Street to honor the late musician Glen Hansard. The performance took place in the early morning hours at the location where Hansard began his own musical career.
Vedder was joined by Scottish musician Murdo Mitchell and several other musicians. The group performed songs including Pearl Jam’s ‘Black’ and Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Drive All Night’. Mitchell organized the tribute following Hansard’s funeral, noting that the group gathered at 3 a.m. to honor Hansard’s spirit.
Hansard passed away on July 29 at the age of 56 following a motorcycle accident. His recent memorial service included tributes from various musical figures, including Bono, who performed reworked lyrics to U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’ and joined in a rendition of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young’.
