Edeeste rolls out $245,000 electric grid upgrade in La Victoria, Dominican Republic

The East Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) is implementing a $245,000 investment to strengthen the electrical network and public lighting in La Victoria, a district of Santo Domingo Norte, Dominican Republic. The project will unload the overloaded DAJA03 circuit (operating at roughly 139 % capacity) and activate a new DAJA07 circuit to improve load distribution and service quality.

Works include replacing an old three‑phase line, constructing 3.5 km of new three‑phase network, installing 88 utility poles and 100 street‑light fixtures across neighborhoods such as El Bambú, La Virgen, Campo Lindo and Villa Palma. The new lighting is expected to boost nighttime safety and mobility for hundreds of families. Edeeste says the upgrade is part of its broader modernization plan to meet growing population and energy demand, and it urges consumers to use electricity efficiently while acknowledging temporary service interruptions during construction.
