Edeka customer faces 30 Euro fine due to parking rules

A customer at an Edeka supermarket in Mittenwald, Germany, received a 30 Euro contractual penalty after exceeding the daily parking limit. While the supermarket allows 90 minutes of parking, the rule applies to the total duration of all visits within a single day, rather than per individual visit.

The parking lot is monitored by the company Parkdepot, which uses cameras to record license plates upon entry and exit. Parkdepot stated that the daily limit is enforced to prevent unauthorized parking by local employees and taxi drivers who attempt to reset their time by exiting and immediately re-entering. The company noted that they allow for a tolerance period and that the average shopping trip lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Legal experts from the ADAC noted that private parking lot owners have the right to establish and enforce their own regulations.
