EDEKA recalls iceberg lettuce due to potential Salmonella contamination

Florette Deutschland GmbH has issued a recall for EDEKA brand ‘Herzstücke Eisbergsalat Salat Pur’ (pre-cut iceberg lettuce) due to the potential presence of Salmonella. The recall specifically affects 200-gram packages with a best-before date of 05/09/26 and the additional label text ‘In Verkehr gebracht von: Florette Deutschland GmbH’.

The affected products were primarily sold through EDEKA and Marktkauf retail outlets across several German states, including Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, and Brandenburg, as well as parts of Saxony-Anhalt and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the product, even if it has been washed. Salmonella can cause gastrointestinal illnesses characterized by diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever, which can be particularly severe for young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Customers can return the affected product to the place of purchase for a full refund, even without a receipt.
