Eden Muñoz to perform free Independence Day concert in Mexicali

Singer Eden Muñoz is scheduled to perform a free concert in Mexicali on September 15 to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. The event will take place at the Plaza de los Tres Poderes de Gobierno.

Governor Marina del Pilar defended the decision to host the free event, stating it is part of the ‘territories of peace’ program intended to allow families to enjoy music together. While the artist is popular, state authorities indicate the cost for the performance could reach up to 6 million pesos, though a formal contract has not yet been released.

The expenditure has drawn criticism from some local residents. Some citizens have expressed that the funds would be better utilized for essential services such as hospitals, security, and road paving rather than entertainment.
