EDENORTE Dominicana upgrades electrical infrastructure in Samaná and Santiago

EDENORTE Dominicana has implemented several infrastructure projects to improve electrical stability and capacity in different regions of the Dominican Republic.

In the El Limón municipal district, the company has activated an electrical interconnection with the Samaná substation. This initiative, managed by the central government and the Samaná Provincial Government, aims to strengthen energy stability and supply continuity. While EDENORTE provides technical support and energy through the Samaná substation, the Empresa Distribuidora El Progreso del Limón (EPDL) remains responsible for local administration, billing, and customer service.

In Santiago de los Caballeros, EDENORTE is performing repowering works at the Zona Franca Santiago substation. The project involves replacing a 37 MVA transformer with a 50 MVA unit, representing an investment of approximately RD$100 million. This upgrade is designed to meet growing electricity demand and reduce overloads. The works require temporary service interruptions for approximately 40,387 customers across various sectors, including Los Prados, Jacagua, and Guayacanal.
