The ADAC warned that the start of the Bavarian summer holidays on 31 July will bring heavy congestion on major motorways, especially the A8 toward Salzburg, the A3 between Regensburg and Passau, the A7 from Ulm to Füssen, the A93, A95 and A99 around Munich. A planned demonstration at the Fernpass in Tirol will close the route completely on 1 August, and overflow traffic on alternative routes is expected to be overloaded. Ongoing construction on the Brenner Autobahn, including the aging Lueg bridge, adds speed limits and single‑lane sections.

ADAC spokesperson Alexander Kreipl said, “Especially a lot of patience is needed for travelers heading from Bavaria to southern holiday regions.” The organisation advises drivers to travel on less busy days or off‑peak hours, to consider waiting the first weekend, and to use alternative routes where possible.

The combined effect of holiday demand, the Fernpass protest and construction works is expected to cause significant delays for road, rail and air travellers departing from Bavaria.
