EdeSur accused of overbilling consumer in Dominican Republic
A consumer in the Dominican Republic has filed a complaint against the energy distributor EdeSur, alleging excessive billing and a failure to perform actual meter readings. The user reported receiving averaged invoices totaling over RD$23,000 for a two-month period.
The complainant stated that EdeSur has been issuing bills based on estimates rather than real consumption, claiming the meter was unreadable. However, the user maintains they have weekly photographic evidence of the meter readings. Because the meter is located inside a private garage, the user noted that technicians have not requested access to verify the equipment.
After the San Isidro commercial office and virtual channels declared the claim unfounded, the company issued an averaged bill for 875 kWh, significantly higher than the user's estimated 300 kWh consumption. The user has requested intervention from Protecom and the Superintendencia de Electricidad.
