Edesur invests RD$421.4 million to modernize Azua electric grid

Edesur Dominicana announced a RD$421.4 million investment to expand and rehabilitate electric distribution networks in the province of Azua, Dominican Republic. The project, part of the company's Programa de Recuperación de Polígonos, will construct 58.1 km of medium‑voltage lines, install 2,441 new poles, 466 distribution transformers and 2,138 LED streetlights. Advanced measurement technologies—including façade, concentrated‑height, tele‑measurement and macro‑measurement systems—will be deployed to reduce energy losses and improve billing. Approximately 8,000 customers in communities such as Estebanía, Blanco, La Tunita, Las Yayas Abajo, La Ceiba, Las Charcas and others will receive upgraded service, enhancing safety and reliability. The initiative was presented by Edesur General Manager José Luis Actis to municipal authorities and community leaders, and forms part of a broader modernization effort covering several other provinces.
