Brooklyn‑born super‑middleweight Edgar Berlanga returned to the ring on July 26 for Zuffa Boxing 09 at the Infosys Theater inside Madison Square Garden. He faced Canadian contender Steven Butler in a 10‑round bout, aiming to rebound after a year‑long layoff and recent losses to Hamzah Sheeraz (2025) and Canelo Alvarez (2024).

The event marked Zuffa Boxing’s first showcase in New York City, a strategic move to establish the promotion’s presence in the U.S. market. Berlanga, who previously recorded 16 straight first‑round knockouts, said the fight was a chance to reset his career.
