Edgar Clodomiro Rodríguez Merlo faces international arrest warrant

A judge has ordered the national and international capture of Edgar Clodomiro Rodríguez Merlo, known as ‘Chule’, following his escape from judicial supervision. Rodríguez Merlo is a suspect in a fatal shooting in Eusebio Ayala that resulted in the death of Rebeca Martínez Aricaya and left Carolina Raquel Aguilera seriously injured.

The suspect reportedly fled after deliberately destroying his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, which triggered a geolocation alert. Investigations suggest he may have already left Paraguay. To facilitate his arrest, authorities have requested an INTERPOL Red Notice and notified migration and judicial cooperation agencies.

Prior to his disappearance, Rodríguez Merlo was being monitored for an aggravated theft charge. Reports indicate he stayed at a lodging in Ypacaraí using a false identity and shaved his appearance to evade detection before fleeing via a ride-sharing service just before police arrived.
