Edgar Pêra's Asphalt Guerrilla to premiere at Locarno Film Festival

Portuguese filmmaker Edgar Pêra will premiere his new film, "Asphalt Guerrilla" (Guerrilha no Asfalto), at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The film explores the history of the FP-25 (Forças Populares 25 de Abril), a radical far-left underground militant group active in Portugal between 1980 and 1987.

Based on a book by former member Manuel Ricardo de Sousa, the narrative follows a student's involvement in the radical organization, which was known for bombings, shootings, and bank robberies. The story concludes with a depiction of a member being lynched by a mob following a robbery.

The production incorporates elements of reality, fiction, and artificial intelligence, serving as a meta-commentary on filmmaking itself. Pêra describes the project as an attempt to make a film in "guerrilla mode" without compromising with the system.
