Edgar Valeriano Orozco Cabadas arrested in Michoacán
Mexican federal authorities arrested Edgar Valeriano Orozco Cabadas, known as ‘El Kamoni’ or ‘El 50’, in Tepalcatepec, Michoacán. Orozco Cabadas is identified as a regional leader of the Tepalcatepec Cartel and a high-level member of the Cárteles Unidos alliance.
The arrest was the result of a coordinated operation involving the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and Interpol Mexico. During the operation, authorities seized weapons and ammunition.
Orozco Cabadas was wanted by the United States government, which had offered a reward of up to $3 million for information leading to his capture. He faces a provisional arrest warrant for extradition to the U.S. on drug trafficking charges. He is allegedly involved in the production and distribution of synthetic drugs, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, as well as the extortion of citrus industry businessmen in Michoacán.
