Edge delivers 500 LNG truckloads to LD Celulose plant in Brazil

Edge, a subsidiary of Compass, has completed 500 truck deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Santos regasification terminal to the LD Celulose plant in Indianópolis, in Brazil's Triângulo Mineiro region. Over roughly six months the operation moved more than 16 million cubic metres of gas, supplying an average of 105 000 m³ per day (peaking at 139 000 m³) and replacing fuel oil under an eight‑year contract.

The LNG is shipped from the São Paulo terminal on a dedicated barge, then transferred to cryogenic trucks that travel about 700 km on road to the factory, where it is re‑gasified in a unit installed by Edge. The company says its monthly dispatch capacity has been expanded by more than ten times. Edge has invested roughly US$360 million (about R$ 2 billion) in its own off‑grid infrastructure, including a US$ 180 million (R$ 1 billion) regasification terminal in Santos. It now serves around 70 industrial customers in 11 Brazilian states, with the LD Celulose joint venture—between Austria’s Lenzing and Dexco—being its first long‑term off‑grid contract.
