EDGE Group and Brazilian Army to launch Latin American cyber defense center

EDGE Group, a United Arab Emirates-based advanced technology and defense conglomerate, is partnering with the Brazilian Army to establish the first Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence (COE) in Latin America. The center will utilize a collaborative model involving government, industry, and academia to strengthen Brazil’s sovereign cybersecurity capabilities.

Both institutions will provide direct investment to the permanent organization. The center is designed to provide specialized services to Brazil’s armed forces and federal agencies, including digital forensics, incident response, professional training, and certification. It will also focus on research and development regarding cyber defense doctrine and the execution of national and regional cyber exercises.

Modeled after international benchmarks such as NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, the initiative aims to reduce external dependency on strategic digital technologies and position Brazil as a regional leader in cybersecurity. This partnership follows EDGE’s recent expansion in the Brazilian market, which includes investments in SIATT and a pending acquisition of aerospace engineering firm AKAER.
