EDGE Group completes development of MK 82 Penetrator munition

EDGE Group subsidiary LAHAB has completed the development of the MK 82 Penetrator, an aircraft munition designed to strike hardened targets and bunkers. Developed and manufactured in the United Arab Emirates, the weapon is intended to provide sovereign defense capabilities for the UAE and its partners.

During testing, the munition successfully penetrated reinforced concrete exceeding one meter in thickness. The development program included environmental qualification tests and performance trials against various hardened target types. Notably, the weapon demonstrated no ‘J’ effect, meaning it maintained its intended trajectory through the target rather than deviating upon impact.

The MK 82 Penetrator is designed for compatibility with NATO-configuration fighters across multiple generations, including fourth, 4.5, and fifth-generation multirole fighters, as well as advanced trainers and light attack platforms. This design allows operators to utilize hardened-target capabilities without requiring entirely new aircraft-weapons systems.
