Romania football team begins Nations League campaign against Sweden

Romania's national football team, led by manager Gheorghe Hagi, begins its UEFA Nations League campaign with an away match against Sweden at the Strawberry Arena in Solna. This fixture marks Hagi's first official match in his second term as head coach.

Due to an intense schedule featuring four matches in ten days, Hagi has selected a 23-man squad for the trip to Sweden, leaving nine players in Romania to continue training at the Mogoșoaia National Football Center. The remaining players include Daniel Bîrligea, Marius Marin, and Olimpiu Moruțan, who will be available for upcoming matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, and the return leg against Sweden.

Hagi expressed optimism regarding the team's potential, stating that the squad has a “very large margin of progress.” He noted that the team is prepared to balance defensive stability with offensive play to compete at the European level. The match against Sweden is part of Group B4, which also includes Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
