Edi Rama condemns drone incident in Germany as Russian aggression

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed solidarity with Germany following a drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Rama characterized the event, involving a drone carrying explosives, as a Russian act of aggression against Germany and European security.

The incident occurred near Ukrainian cargo planes. While the drone discovered on August 4 did not detonate due to a seemingly damaged detonator, investigators suspect a second drone may have collided with a cargo plane, with a third drone reportedly found near the airport ten days later.

Rama stated that the situation is not a “grey zone” and supported German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in responding with clarity and strength to such hybrid warfare. He reaffirmed Albania's support for Germany, Ukraine, and NATO allies, emphasizing that collective action is necessary to counter these threats.
