EDIA launches €450,000 tender to install 415 surveillance cameras on Alqueva water infrastructure

The Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infraestruturas do Alqueva (EDIA) announced a public tender with a base price of €450,000 (ex‑VAT) to supply, install and configure a video‑surveillance system across the Alqueva water‑management complex. The contract covers 415 cameras, including 32 automatic number‑plate recognition (ANPR) units, to be deployed at pumping stations, regulation and filtration sites, transformation stations, reservoirs, canals and hydro‑electric plants throughout the Alentejo region. Execution is scheduled for 365 days from signing, with central supervision from EDIA’s headquarters in Beja. The AI‑enabled cameras will detect people, vehicles and licence plates, generate alerts for intrusions, video loss or camera tampering, and integrate with existing technological infrastructure.

The tender aims to enhance security and operational monitoring of the Empreendimento de Fins Múltiplos de Alqueva (EFMA) facilities, supporting the management of water resources and associated infrastructure.
