Edin Avdić’s death and firing from Arena Sport exposed

Legendary Bosnian‑Herzegovinian sports commentator Edin Avdić died on 3 June 2026 from a heart attack. He had been a presenter on the regional sports broadcaster Arena Sport since 2010.

Serbian actor Ammar Mešić announced on social media that Avdić was dismissed from Arena Sport a few months before his death because of a remark he made on 2 December 2025 about coach Željko Obradović. Mešić quoted the statement, saying “Željko Obradović was the personification of Partizan …” and criticised the channel for not airing a tribute or receiving public support from Avdić’s former colleagues.

Mešić added that only a few colleagues attended Avdić’s memorial and emphasized that his comments reflect his personal view, not the family’s stance.
