Edin Terzic discusses career break and Athletic Bilbao move
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has opened up about the two-year hiatus he took following his departure from the German club. Now coaching the Spanish side Athletic Bilbao, the 43-year-old stated that the break was a conscious decision to process his experiences at Dortmund and spend more time with family and friends.
During his time away from the sidelines, Terzic worked with RTL and UEFA to gain new perspectives on international football. He noted that the period was essential for his development, stating, “I have the feeling that I am further along today and a better coach.”
Terzic also revealed that Jupp Heynckes played a role in his transition to Spanish football. The former Bayern Munich coach provided insights into his own experiences coaching Athletic Bilbao, which influenced Terzic’s decision to take the position in Spain.
