Edinburgh Fringe 2026 launches with 4,200+ shows across 299 venues

The 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe opened on Friday, featuring more than 4,202 shows at 299 venues throughout the Scottish capital. Organisers said the month‑long program will include over 57,000 performances, with an average ticket price of £13. The lineup offers 430 free shows and 796 pay‑what‑you‑can events, and artists from 74 countries will be represented.

Australian comedian Alice Fraser debuted her new hour "Oh Man!" at the Monkey Barrel venue on opening night. The sold‑out performance tackled modern masculinity, artificial intelligence and the manosphere, using a sentient Roomba as a comedic co‑star. Fraser’s show received praise for its sharp wit and calm stagecraft, highlighting the diverse range of acts on offer at the festival.
