Edinburgh hotels highlight local art and historic legends

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh has introduced the Spellbound Suite, located within the historic India Buildings. The suite features a hand-painted mural by artist Lynsey Jean Henderson and the Marangerie collective, created as part of the hotel’s Artist in Residence programme. The artwork, inspired by medieval history and local folklore, depicts mythical creatures and celestial themes.

Edinburgh’s hospitality sector also features historic sites known for their legendary atmospheres. Dalhousie Castle Hotel, a 13th-century structure near Bonnyrigg, is associated with sightings of the Grey Lady. Similarly, Borthwick Castle, which served as a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots, is noted for reports of unusual noises and light anomalies by visitors.
