Edinburgh International Film Festival announces new film premieres

The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) has announced several high-profile screenings and premieres. The festival is scheduled to run from August 13 to August 19, 2026.

Na Hong-jin's sci-fi action thriller, HOPE, will have its UK premiere at Cineworld Fountainbridge on August 16. The film features an international cast including Hwang Jung-min, Hoyeon, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander. The story follows a police chief and an officer investigating a mysterious creature in a remote South Korean village.

The action-thriller Bad Day at the Office, starring John Hannah and Radha Mitchell, will have its world premiere as the opening film for the festival's Midnight Madness strand on August 13. Shot entirely in the first person using GoPro cameras, the film will also have a special 4DX screening at Cineworld Fountainbridge on August 19.
