Edinburgh landmarks top Scotland photography rankings amid festival cost concerns

Edinburgh is currently a focal point for Scottish tourism and culture, though visitors face varying experiences regarding landmarks and costs. Data from photo curation app Popsa has identified Edinburgh Castle as Scotland’s most photographed destination, earning a perfect score of 100 on its Photo Index Score. The city accounts for half of the top 10 most snapped locations in the country, including St Giles' Cathedral, Holyrood Park, Calton Hill, and the Scott Monument.

Other highly ranked Scottish landmarks include the Glencoe National Nature Reserve, Stirling Castle, Eilean Donan Castle, the Glenfinnan Viaduct, and Urquhart Castle.

As the city hosts major summer events like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the International Festival, and the Military Tattoo, concerns regarding affordability have risen. Attendees and venue directors report significant increases in the cost of living during the festival season. Expenses such as food, drinks, and utilities have made attending multiple performances a financial challenge for both locals and tourists.
