Edinburgh launches green investment programme for climate resilience
The Edinburgh City Council has launched the Edinburgh Green Investment programme, a new initiative allowing residents and local businesses to fund projects aimed at improving the city's climate resilience and biodiversity. In partnership with Abundance Investment Ltd, the programme seeks to raise £1 million to support nature-based solutions.
Funds will be directed toward projects designed to reduce emissions, mitigate flood risks through sustainable drainage systems like rain gardens and rainwater planters, and increase tree planting. These efforts aim to provide cooler urban spaces during heatwaves and improve general access to nature.
Investment is open to the public starting from a minimum of £5, offering an interest rate of 4.84% paid semi-annually over a five-year term. The funding window is scheduled to remain open until November 30, 2026, or until the £1 million target is met.
