Edinburgh man sentenced to 12 years for decades of child abuse
Ian White, 62, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by the High Court in Edinburgh following convictions on nine counts of sexual abuse. The crimes spanned two decades, occurring between December 1978 and May 1998.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed a pattern of targeting vulnerable children and infants. In one instance, White placed vodka in an infant's bottle before sexually abusing them. His actions included the sexual abuse of a young boy, the rape of a girl aged nine or ten, and the abuse of several other children and adolescents.
The judge described White's behavior as “heinous, calculated, and despicable,” noting that the defendant showed no remorse or empathy for the harm caused. White had previously claimed that his victims had conspired against him for financial reasons, a claim the court rejected.
