Edinburgh youth group launches cookbook to support care leavers

The Edinburgh Champions Board, a group of care-experienced young people aged 16 and over, has released a cookbook titled “Cook Like a Champ”. The publication features a variety of recipes ranging from simple, affordable meals to culturally diverse dishes and more technical recipes.

Launched during Care Experienced Week, the cookbook is priced at £15. All proceeds will fund setting-up-home packs for young people transitioning out of the care system. These packs are designed to provide essentials for their first homes, including bedding, cleaning supplies, cutlery, and crockery.

The group meets fortnightly at the Corporate Parenting Hub in Edinburgh, where food serves as a central component of their community sessions. The cookbook was officially launched on October 29 with an event where members prepared recipe samples for guests.
