Edirne customs officials seize 147 kg of cannabis and 27 kg of cocaine
Customs enforcement teams from the Ministry of Trade seized a significant quantity of narcotics during two separate operations at the Ipsala and Hamzabeyli customs gates in Edirne, Turkey.
At the Ipsala Customs Gate, a vehicle identified through risk analysis and X-ray scanning was inspected with the assistance of narcotic detection dogs, 'Beta' and 'Axel'. The search revealed 147.085 kilograms of skunk cannabis packed in 132 vacuum-sealed bags within the vehicle's cabin.
In a second operation at the Hamzabeyli Customs Gate, a truck was subjected to X-ray scanning. Following a response from the detection dog 'Anti', authorities discovered 24 packages containing 27.180 kilograms of cocaine wrapped in stretch film. Investigations into both incidents have been launched by the Ipsala and Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
