Edirne hosts 11th International Marathon with 1,071 participants

The 11th International Edirne Marathon, organized by the Balkan Countries Friendship Sports Club (BÜDDER), took place in Edirne, Turkey. To commemorate the Malazgirt Victory, 1,071 athletes participated in the event.

The marathon featured three different stages: 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. The races began in front of the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Selimiye Mosque. The 21 km route extended through the Karaağaç neighborhood to the Pazarkule Border Gate, where runners reached the zero point of the border at the Kastanies Border Gate in Greece before returning to the finish line.

In the 21 km general classification, 50-year-old master athlete Ümit Er took first place. In the women's 21 km category, Greek athlete Pelagia Diamantaki finished first. For the 10 km race, Nuh Aşçı secured first place, while Burak İşbaşaran won the 5 km category.
