Edirne Mayor confirms location for 666th Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling

Edirne Mayor Filiz Gencan has announced that the 666th Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling tournament will be held at the Sarayiçi Er Meydanı. While there have been discussions regarding moving the event due to restoration projects at the Edirne New Palace, Gencan stated that no concrete project for a location change has been finalized. The municipality intends to consult with city stakeholders and wrestling enthusiasts before making any permanent decisions.

Additionally, Gencan provided updates on the city's water infrastructure. The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) has completed a 7-kilometer pipeline to transport water from the Süloğlu Dam to the city. Trial operations for this line are currently underway, providing a backup resource for the city should issues arise with the Kayalı Dam. Gencan noted that dam occupancy levels remain good and that measures have been taken to address recent seasonal changes in water color.
