Edith Cowan University deploys Riedel production infrastructure
Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Australia, has implemented a new communications and production infrastructure developed by Riedel Communications. The system integrates broadcast facilities, theater spaces, and various university venues into a single ecosystem to support professional live production workflows.
The technical setup utilizes Riedel Artist-1024 nodes at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the broadcast department. MediorNet serves as the backbone for audio and video distribution, supported by MicroN UHD units and mobile units capable of handling outside broadcast scenarios via fiber-optic connections. The infrastructure also includes MediorNet HorizoN to bridge SDI and ST 2110 workflows, allowing for two independent parallel broadcasts.
To enhance the learning environment, the university uses Riedel Bolero wireless intercoms for mobile communication among production staff and Riedel SimplyLive RiCapture servers. These servers allow students and instructors to record up to six simultaneous video streams and production communications, enabling them to replay and review workflows during training sessions.
