Birmingham-based band Editors have released their eighth studio album, titled ‘Surface, Echo & Sound’, via Play It Again Sam Records. Moving away from the electronic experimentation of their 2022 album ‘EBM’, the new record features a more organic and melodic sound.
The creative process for this album began with acoustic sketches from frontman Tom Smith, leading the band to return to a collaborative songwriting approach in a shared room. The album includes tracks such as the title track, ‘Call It In’, and ‘The Rush’, which explores themes of friendship and resilience. Other songs mentioned include ‘Rescue’, ‘Shadow’, ‘Real’, ‘Happiness’, ‘Much Love’, ‘Butterfly Wings’, and ‘Seriously’.
