Editors release new single ‘Seriously’ ahead of eighth studio album

British band Editors have released their new single, ‘Seriously’, ahead of their eighth studio album, ‘Surface, Echo & Sound’, which is scheduled for release via Play It Again Sam on October 30.

The track features synth notes, chiming guitars, and an upbeat tempo, signaling a shift toward a more organic and direct sound compared to their previous electronic-leaning work. Lead singer Tom Smith noted that while the band is often associated with darkness, the lyrics frequently focus on themes of love, warmth, and hope. He described the song as a way to find a path forward during difficult times.

The upcoming album was recorded during a productive summer in Gloucestershire, moving away from heavy studio interventions toward a more natural creative process. The band has also announced tour dates across the UK, Ireland, and several European countries, including France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany.
