Edílson recalls firing gunshots at Vitória training center in 2004

Former striker Edílson, known as ‘Capetinha’, has recounted a controversial incident from his time at Esporte Clube Vitória in 2004. During a period when the club's training center had recently been robbed, Edílson arrived at the team's concentration late at night and fired several gunshots into the air.

Edílson stated the act was intended as a “joke” to scare his teammates, the coach Evaristo de Macedo, and then-president Paulo Carneiro. The incident occurred after Edílson had initially refused to stay at the training center due to the recent robbery, only relenting after being told by the coach that he would not play in the upcoming match against São Paulo if he did not attend.

The sudden gunfire caused immediate panic among those present, including players and staff, some of whom attempted to hide or jumped into the club's pool to escape the commotion.
