Edmand Lara releases audio involving Roger Mariaca and Fernando Cerimedo

Bolivian Vice President Edmand Lara has sparked political controversy after circulating an audio recording allegedly featuring former Attorney General Roger Mariaca and Argentine political strategist Fernando Cerimedo. In the recording, the individuals purportedly discuss a meeting in Santa Cruz and mention an unidentified person referred to as ‘amigo M’. Lara has called for an investigation into the identity of this individual and the nature of the meeting.

Journalist Amalia Pando has accused Lara and Mariaca of coordinating a plan to undermine President Rodrigo Paz. Pando suggested that the case involving consultant Gerardo Cerimedo has been used as a tool to pressure the government, alleging that Lara acted as a primary spokesperson for denunciations linked to Cerimedo and leaked recordings.

Mariaca and Cerimedo are currently under preventive detention. Following Mariaca's removal from the Attorney General's office, José Armando Urioste was appointed as interim Attorney General. Lara expressed concerns regarding whether the new interim official might favor Cerimedo, who is currently held in Chonchocoro prison. The authenticity of the audio and the specific details of the alleged coordination remain unverified.
