Edmonton Oilers aim for Pacific Division dominance amid offseason moves

Former NHL defenseman Jason Demers said the Edmonton Oilers are the clear favorites to win the Pacific Division, citing the team's aggressive offseason. New head coach Mike Babcock and roster additions—including goalies Frederik Andersen and Devon Levi, plus forwards Ryan Shea, Shakir Mukhamadullin and Mathieu Joseph—have, in Demers' view, set the Oilers apart from rivals such as the Vegas Golden Knights.

Despite the optimism, the Oilers have not yet reached an extension agreement with rising winger Matt Savoie. His agent Gerry Johansson confirmed that no contract talks have taken place, explaining that the club is focused on a "win‑now" approach as it pursues a Stanley Cup. Bowman and the front office remain confident in the current roster while keeping Savoie's future under review.
