Michal Postava shines in first NHL start as Detroit beats Edmonton

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Michal Postava delivered a standout performance in his first career NHL start, leading Detroit to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The 24-year-old Czech netminder made 25 saves during regulation and overtime, and successfully stopped all three shootout attempts from Edmonton stars Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Detroit trailed multiple times during the match, but Dylan Larkin scored a crucial goal with 1:17 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Lucas Raymond ultimately secured the win for the Red Wings by scoring the lone goal in the shootout and adding two assists during the game.

For the Oilers, Vasily Podkolzin, Isaac Howard, and Colton Dach provided the scoring. Despite Connor McDavid extending his season-opening points streak to 12 games, Edmonton could not secure the win. The victory marks a significant milestone for Postava, who was recalled from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins following injuries to Detroit's goaltending rotation.
