Edmonton Oilers hire Misha Donskov as coaching consultant
The Edmonton Oilers have hired Misha Donskov as a coaching consultant. Donskov, who currently serves as Hockey Canada’s vice president of hockey operations and a coach for the Canadian men’s national team, will join the Oilers for a select number of home games each month during the NHL season.
Donskov brings extensive international and professional experience, having served as an assistant coach for Canada’s silver medal-winning team at the 2026 Winter Olympics and as an assistant coach for the Vegas Golden Knights during their 2023 Stanley Cup win. He also recently served as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars.
Oilers head coach Mike Babcock expressed enthusiasm for the addition, noting that Donskov’s experience and professionalism will benefit the staff and players. Meanwhile, star player Leon Draisaitl noted that the team is looking forward to the accountability and clear planning expected under the current coaching leadership.
