Edmonton police warn of violent sexual offender release

The Edmonton Police Service has issued a public warning regarding the release of Jamie Edward Meads, a 38-year-old convicted violent sexual offender, who is expected to reside in the Edmonton area.

Meads was convicted in June 2025 of multiple offences, including assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, suffocating, or strangling, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, intimidation, and uttering threats. Police stated his crimes stem from a prolonged pattern of violence against an intimate partner, noting he has eight known victims over a 20-year period.

Authorities described Meads as a high risk to reoffend and a danger to the community, specifically targeting vulnerable individuals and organizations that support victims of intimate partner violence.

Court-ordered conditions for Meads include supervision by the EPS behavioural assessment unit, residing at an approved address, having no contact with his victims, and obtaining written approval before entering any sexual or intimate relationship, cohabitation, or marriage.
