Edmonton prepares for rainy Labour Day long weekend

Edmonton is preparing for the Labour Day long weekend with a forecast of overcast skies and rain. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, temperatures are expected to hover around or below average. Friday is projected to reach a high of 19°C with a 30 per cent chance of showers, while Saturday may see a high of only 15°C. Sunday is expected to reach 18°C with evening showers, and Labour Day Monday carries a 60 per cent chance of rain with a high of 16°C.

Regarding holiday operations, several services in Edmonton will follow modified schedules. Public libraries, post offices, banks, and Costco are expected to be closed. Transit services, including ETS buses and the LRT, will operate under a Sunday service schedule. Major shopping destinations such as West Edmonton Mall, Kingsway Mall, and various grocery stores will remain open, though specific hours may vary.
