Edmundo Luis Valdeña proposes public evaluation of municipal reports

Edmundo Luis Valdeña Bastida, a Morena deputy, is promoting an initiative to amend the Organic Municipal Law of the State of Mexico. The proposal seeks to introduce a formal process for the public evaluation of municipal government reports, known as the 'Glosa del Informe de Gobierno Municipal'.

Currently, municipal presidents are required to present annual reports, but the law lacks a mechanism for the City Council to analyze results or request clarifications. The proposed initiative would allow council members to examine reported actions, formulate questions, and summon department heads to testify within 30 days of the report's presentation.

Under this plan, sessions would be public, and the City Council would issue an agreement containing non-binding observations and recommendations. The municipal president would then be required to provide a written response to these observations within 30 days.
