The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is identified as the current gold standard for families. For smaller families of five or fewer, the report suggests two-row SUVs for better fuel efficiency and maneuverability.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is highlighted as a capable extra-small SUV option, receiving an Edmunds rating of 7.9 out of 10. While noted for its sophisticated safety tech, testers observed that the base engine can be sluggish during highway merging and the ride may feel jittery over bumps.
