Edo Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa rolls out health insurance scheme and road upgrades in Ovia

Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa announced the launch of a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) programme aimed at providing health‑insurance coverage for about 4,000 residents of Ovia South‑West and Ovia North‑East Local Government Areas. More than 2,000 beneficiaries have already been enrolled and received activated NHIA cards, which allow free access to consultations, treatment, minor surgery and maternal health services at accredited hospitals.

Idahosa also assured Ovia residents that reconstruction of the damaged Okhun Junction on Upper Siluko Road will begin under the 2026 Edo State budget. The project, part of a broader infrastructure plan that includes work on the Ekewan Barracks–Gelegele Road and the dualisation of the Oluku–Sobe Road, will link the Ugbowo–Lagos Expressway with Upper Siluko Road via a new seven‑kilometre Okhun Road. Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved these initiatives, signalling the administration’s focus on improving health care access and road connectivity in the constituency.
