Edo Governor Okpebholo pledges five-minute security response

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced new measures aimed at improving security and reducing response times to criminal threats across the state. The governor pledged that security agencies will be able to respond to emergencies within five minutes, potentially deploying between five and seven vehicles to a scene upon receiving a distress call.

To facilitate this, the administration plans to introduce dedicated emergency numbers for the public and provide motorcycles to security personnel to ensure access to remote forest areas. Governor Okpebholo emphasized that his administration is prioritizing the fight against kidnapping, robbery, and cultism, stating that the state will be significantly safer within the next month.

During a meeting with youth leaders, security chiefs, and vigilante groups in Benin City, the governor stressed the importance of community involvement, urging residents to report suspicious activities and work closely with the police. Local security officials, including the police commissioner and an Air Force commander, expressed support for these collaborative strategies and noted existing progress in tackling crime.
