Edo Queens win WAFU-B tournament to qualify for CAF Women’s Champions League
Edo Queens Football Club has won the WAFU-B tournament for the second time after defeating Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies in a penalty shootout. The final, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ended in a 2-2 draw during regulation time. Beline Nyarkoh scored twice for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, while Oluebube Umejiaku provided a late equalizer for the Nigerian champions.
By securing this victory, Edo Queens has qualified for the CAF Women’s Champions League. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Acting General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, praised the team’s achievement, noting that the victory was particularly impressive as Ampem Darkoa Ladies was the only team to defeat Edo Queens during the group stage.
