Edo State aide apologizes to Davido after retracting performance ban

Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has issued an apology to Afrobeats singer Davido following a controversial claim that the artist was banned from performing in the state.

Chukwu initially released a video warning that Davido would not be allowed to perform in Edo State for the remainder of the current administration, suggesting the singer might face a hostile reception from local youths. However, the Edo State Government quickly disowned the statement.

In a subsequent video, Chukwu retracted his remarks, stating he acted in his personal capacity as a loyal political ‘son’ of the governor rather than as a government official. He explained that his reaction was an emotional response to comments made by Davido regarding the governor and his children. Chukwu also apologized to Governor Okpebholo for any embarrassment the incident may have caused.
