Edo State distributes micro-business grants to 300 women

The Edo State Government has distributed micro-business grants to more than 300 women in the Edo South Senatorial District. The initiative, themed ‘Micro Business Empowerment: Empowering Women, Strengthening Families, Building a Prosperous Edo’, aims to improve household incomes and promote economic self-reliance.

Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo-Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the Edo Governor’s Wife, stated that the intervention is designed to help women expand existing enterprises in sectors such as trading, agriculture, food processing, fashion, catering, and crafts. She emphasized that the grants are intended to provide the capital necessary to increase stock, acquire equipment, or reach more customers.

Beneficiaries were urged to treat the funds as seed capital and maintain strict financial discipline by separating personal spending from business capital and keeping proper records. LAPO Microfinance Bank also advised the recipients to invest the grants in income-generating ventures to ensure long-term growth.
