Edo State Governor Okpebholo swears in local chairmen and government boards

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has inaugurated several new government bodies and sworn in 18 local government chairmen. During the ceremonies held at the Government House in Benin, the governor emphasized the importance of grassroots development and integrity in public service.

Addressing the newly sworn-in local government chairmen, Okpebholo urged them to prioritize community development and shun corruption. He noted that the recent local government elections were free and fair, reflecting growing confidence in democracy. He also highlighted that increased local government autonomy under President Bola Tinubu places greater responsibility on these leaders to ensure government impact reaches every community.

Additionally, Okpebholo inaugurated four government boards: the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Consumer Protection Committee, and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency. He charged these appointees to serve with humility and dedication, placing the interests of Edo residents above personal considerations.
