Edo State Police investigate extortion at Agbede checkpoint

The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into allegations of extortion involving a vigilante official at a checkpoint along Agbede. The incident gained public attention after a video circulated on social media showing the operative in possession of money while extorting motorists.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Eno Ikoedem, the Auchi Area Command has identified the individual and commenced a full-scale investigation. As part of the disciplinary process, the entire police team stationed at the checkpoint has been defaulted, and the team leader has been queried for vicarious liability regarding the conduct of the vigilante personnel.
